Description

NGC 7129 is a reflection nebula in the constellation Cepheus, located about 3,000 light-years from Earth. In this deep RGB image, I have attempted to capture the nebula's dusty surroundings, which appear as brown clouds with embedded knots of denser material, or dark nebulae. This field also contains pervasive hydrogen emission nebulae, visible in the red hues. To the upper right of NGC 7129 is the open star cluster NGC 7142. Although separated by half a degree in the sky, these two objects are quite distant from each other, with NGC 7142 located around 6,000 light-years from Earth.

I began this project in early July but didn't complete it as Southern Arizona's monsoon rain pattern dominated the weather. The rain and persistent clouds did not let up until September, when I was finally able to complete data acquisition.
